NAWABSHAH, March 31: Quaid-i-AwamUniversity of Engineering, Science and Technology Nawabshah became a battlefield after a clash between students and members of employees union, here on Saturday.
Members of employees union observed strike against Friday's clash with students in which more than eight persons including six students were injured, which turned violent after a students rally attacked them with clubs.
Both the parties attacked each other which resulted into injuries to five persons including Zahoor Ahmed Bachkani and Abid Malik, (students) and Pathan Ujjan, Shaman Soomro and his son Asif Soomro of employees union.
The enraged students later came on Sakrand road, burnt tyres and blocked the road.
Dozens of students pelted stones on passenger vans passing through the road, broke the property of Quaid-i-Awam University.
A heavy contingent of police and rangers were present during the entire scene but did not try to stop the students.
Police later arrested over 60 students, including Tufail Mahessar, Bilal, Zulfiqar Golo, Saeed Almani, Kantesh, Abdul Qudoos Samejo, Mohammad Saqlain Malik, Taufeeq Ahmed, Farhan Jamali, Mohammed Aslam Soomro, Zaheer Tunio, Syed Barkat Shah, Altaf Soomro, Rafiq Chandio and others from restaurants, passenger buses, railway station and university premises.
Manzoor Ahmed Panhwar, director students affairs QUEST told newsmen that members of employees union were on a peaceful strike and the university administration was holding talks for the solution of problem. He said that some students took out a rally and both groups clashed and the situation turned violent.
