KARACHI, March 31: The Sindh education department has formally given approval to start BEd classes at the Government Elementary College of Education (Men/Women), Lyari.

According to the order issued by the Sindh secretary education, BEd classes in the evening shift at the college in question will begin with usual terms and conditions with immediate effect.

Director Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Wing, Sindh, Jamshoro will provide the teaching facilities deputing trained staff including other facilities, it added.

This was a longstanding demand of Lyariites as the people living there had to travel to long distances to attend classes either at Government College of Education in Federal B Area or Government College of Education in Malir. There are only three colleges in the entire province where BEd classes are conducted – two in Karachi and one in Sukkur.

With the approval of launching the BEd classes in Lyari, it would be the fourth institution in the province. The Lyariites welcomed the decision of the education department.

The Young Lyari Welfare Centre also thanked the authorities for taking the decision.
