BAHAWALPUR, March 14: A first class civil judge and judicial magistrate has resigned in protest against what he called humiliation and torture of the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Saeed Khurshid Ahmed of Jalalpur Peerwala sent on Wednesday his resignation to the Lahore High Court registrar through the district and sessions judge, Bahawalpur.
In his resignation, Mr Ahmed said that during his six years of service he had seen helplessness and humiliation of judicial officers and, as such, he found himself unfit for the job.
He said the judiciary had no security and the action taken against Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had shattered the public trust in the judiciary. Mr Ahmed criticised the “humiliation of the chief justice by personnel of law-enforcement agencies”.
