KARACHI, March 2: Low shipping activity was witnessed at the port where only one ship Hummurabi carrying containers was berthed at QICT during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Berth occupancy remained at 40 per cent at the port where four ships occupied berths to load, unload containers, peas/ seeds and diesel oil, respectively, during the report period.

The port handled cargo volume of 43,715 tons, comprising 34,688 tons imports and 9,027 tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 992 (Teus).

Three ships were at the outer anchorage on Friday namely, Maersk Arkansas (containers); Stella (furnace oil) and Rich Duchess (furnace oil).

Two ships sailed out during the report period.
