LARKANA, Feb 3: Hazoor Bakhsh Malik, who has accused some police officials of chopping off the sensitive part of his body while keeping him illegal detention at the Market police station on January 25, was released on Saturday after the police withdrew cases of theft and attempt to suicide against him.

His release took place from the jail ward of Chandka Medical College Hospital after the supervising investigation officer Aslam Parvez Abro submitted papers to the court of first judicial magistrate, seeking withdrawal of cases.

The Market police on the complaint of Malik registered an FIR against the suspended SHO of the Market police, Khan Tunio, ASI Aftab Abbasi, three unidentified policemen and three private persons for chopping off the sensitive part of his body. The case was registered under sections 337-K, 334, 343, 34, PPC and 156 of Police Order 2002.

The additional inspector-general (investigation) of Sindh on Saturday transferred the case to crime branch of Sukkur for further probe to be conducted by DSP crime branch of Sukkur Iqbal Junejo.

The IG in a letter asked the deputy inspector general (establishment) to initiate departmental action against the DPO (operations) of Larkana, Azeem Tunio, for failing to visit the scene of the offence, showing casual attitude and handling the case in an unprofessional manner.

The DIG was also asked to initiate action against Khan Tunio and former SI Amanullah Magsi for failing to preserve the crime scene, washing away the evidence and not recovering the weapon of offence.

The IGP said that it had been established that Malik had remained under illegal detention at the police station.
