PSO ready for sell-off: PM

ISLAMABAD, Jan 5: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has become a prime asset ready for privatisation as a result of its corporate transformation, innovative products and services.

Chairing a high-level meeting to review the performance of the PSO here on Friday, the prime minister said that keeping with the new paradigm, the government was committed to confining its role to policy-making within the parameters of a strong regulatory framework, as commercial activity was the exclusive domain of the private sector.

An official announcement said that the meeting was attended among others by Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon, Minister for Privatisation Zahid Hamid, PSO Managing Director Jalees A Siddiqui.
