Terrorist ends year on a high note
KARACHI, Dec 30: Fancied four-year-old chestnut colt Terrorist obliged the punters by ending the year on a winning note when he galloped to four-and-a-half lengths victory over Dragon Heart in the feature event of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.
With four successive wins under his belt, the change of rider could not deter him from the feat. Saddled by Sher Mohammad, he was ridden home by M. Manzoor.
Jockey Mohammad Essa sprinted Terrorist to victory in the earlier meetings.
The Concord secured third place while Arab Hi Arab completed the frame in a field of 10 runners.
Public fancy filly Voo Doo Doll with rider M. Yousuf aboard made amends when she claimed honours in the supporting event after favourite filly Phapha Kutni was withdrawn.
Under rider Fahim K three-year-old bay colt Air Supply surprised all and sundry by registering maiden victory over Khas-ul-Khas. The win enabled Fahim to complete a fine double as he sprinted Field Commander to a facile four lengths victory over Mixed Blessing in the opener.
A fine of Rs2,000 were imposed on riders of Ghabra, Breaking News, Silent Love, Right Approach, Miss Bank Bank, Vital Force, Gul Bano, Desperado, Hamza Joy and Poply Billy for unsatisfactory riding in the same race.
After three failures Super Shot delivered the goods when he edged out Champion Express by half length.
As predicted, filly Foolish Pleasure, and another filly Jet Zone lived up to their billing by winning honours while mare Taneez won the other race.
