KARACHI, Dec 28: Leaders of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) and the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) have condemned the arrest of BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal and termed the action ‘state terrorism’.

Addressing a protest rally outside the Karachi Press Club on Thursday, they accused the government of having resorted to vindictive action against Baloch nationalists.

However, they warned, Baloch people would never succumb to such pressure tactics. Rather, they added, the Baloch nationalist movement would emerge even stronger.

They also cautioned the government that any attempt to crush the movement would prove to be counter-productive and cast a negative impact on the country’s integrity.

They slammed ‘enforced disappearances’ of Baloch leaders, including Ghulam Mohammad Baloch (BNM), Sher Mohammad Baloch (JWP), Nazim of Dera Bugti Kazim Bugti, Misri Khan Marri, Gowaram Saleh and BSO chairman Mohyuddin Baloch, and demanded their immediate recovery/release.

Those who addressed the rally included Abbas Baloch of BNP, Shahnawaz Baloch and Abdul Jabbar Baloch of BSO. The participants of the rally resolved to continue their struggle until their demand for recognising Baloch people’s national rights was met.
