Indian Navy captures 5 Pakistani fishermen

THATTA, Dec 24: Five Pakistani fishermen with their catch and boat were captured by some 50 personnel of Indian Navy in Pakistan’s territorial waters in Arabian Sea near the disputed Sir Creek 30 nautical miles from costal settlement Jati on late Saturday, said the president of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF), Thatta chapter.

The PFF president said he had received reports that naval personnel driving speed boats, surrounded the fishing vessel Al-Rashid, severely beaten up the boat occupants and took away five fishermen Sikiladho Borio, Umer Borio, Hassan Borio, Ashraf Borio and Nawaz Borio amid heavy aerial firing.

He expressed concern over the repeated incursions of Indian Navy, victimisation of Pakistani fishermen and demanded immediate release of the captured fishermen.
