MELBOURNE, Dec 23: With time at his disposal, after announcing retirement from cricket after Ashes series, Australian spin wizard Shane Warne hinted he may try to win back his estranged wife Simone, who divorced him due to his involvement in a sex scandal last year.
The divorced couple, which continues to live together with their three kids, will spend Christmas together and Warne may try to re-kindle relationship, which collapsed last year.
Speculation is also rife the two may continue to live together in Hampshire in England as Warne completes his two-year contract with county side.
“We're still friends now. We still live together even though we're divorced, so that's still a pretty interesting sort of set-up, but who knows what future holds there?''.
Champion leg-spinner thanked Simone for support she gave in his long career and said his best friend for many years always helped him get over tough situations.
“She's been there for major part of the journey. She's been my rock. I (would) come home from a bad day and Simone was there to cheer you up and kids were there. She's been wonderful. I want to say thank you to her, she's been amazing support for me, she's been my best friend for long period of time.”
The couple lives in a six-bedroom Brighton mansion as Simone, who has maintained she would not get back with Warne, is still getting a house built for herself and children.
Warne and Simone also have a house in Hampshire but Simone left it soon after buying as a sex scandal involving her husband came to light before last year's Ashes.
She left for Australia immediately after news came and Warne reportedly cried for hours following her departure.—Agencies
