SUKKUR, Dec 19: Ulema belonging to different schools of thought have strongly protested against the desecration of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi’s grave in Thana Bhawan, India and termed it a provocative act.

A meeting of ulema presided over by Maulana Asad Thanvi at Jamia Ashrafia on Tuesday said that Maulana Thanvi was a well known name in the subcontinent for his religious work. He wrote more than 1000 books.

The meeting said that the miscreants had played with Muslims’ sentiments and demanded that the government of Pakistan should use its influence to bring the culprits to justice.

PML-F MNA: Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) MNA Ms Khursheed Afghan said on Tuesday that the government should not construct Kalabagh dam until it redressed Sindh’s reservations.

She told a press conference that Pir Sahib Pagara was ‘pro-Musharraf’ but he was ‘not against the interests of Sindh.’
