KARACHI, Dec 17: The Supreme Court Bar Association is set to hold an unprecedented second ballot on Monday to elect its office-bearers for 2007.
The main contest for the office of president is between Muneer A. Malik and Raja Haq Nawaz Khan, both from Karachi as it is Sindh’s turn to hold the office.
The candidates for the secretary’s office, which does not rotate among provinces, are Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari and Mian Waheed Akhtar, both from Lahore. After Sheikh Faqir M. Javed’s withdrawal from the contest, Khwaja Naveed Ahmed has returned unopposed as vice-president from Sindh. The candidates who contested the previous poll, in October, are re-contesting the election.
In Karachi, balloting has been arranged at the Sindh Bar Council office in SHC Annexe Building from 9am to 4pm with an hour’s lunch break (1pm to 2pm).
The province has 295 voters, all of whom will be casting their votes at the Karachi polling station.
