QUETTA, Dec 13: Hundreds of members of the Pakistan Workers Federation, Balochistan, staged a demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club on Wednesday to press for their demands.
They criticised the “government’s attitude towards problems of the working class”.
Speaking at the protest demostration, PWFB chairman Abdul Salam Baloch, organisation president, Mohammad Hanif, and the general-secretary, Ramzan Achakzai, strongly criticised the government for “not paying heed to the demands of workers who are facing hardships due to price-hike, low wages and downsizing in the country”.
They said that thousands of workers were laid off from different institutions and government departments in the name of rightsizing that caused an increase in unemployment in the country.
They also described various laws enforced by the government as anti-workers and demanded abrogation of the laws.
The leaders also supported the ongoing protest by workers of the Pakistan Telecommunication and urged the government to accept their demands without delay.
The protesting workers threatened to stage a sit-in in front of the Balochistan Assembly if their demands were not met by the government.
They also demanded release of Noor Bakhsh Baloch, the central leader of PTCL workers.
