PTV staff remanded in police custody

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Dec 10: Senior civil judge Sunday remanded an employee of Pakistan Television (PTV) in police custody for four days for questioning in a murder case.

Shalimar police presented Aga Gul Naik Khan, an accountant in PTV, before the court seeking his remand for interrogation in connection with the death of his servant Mohammad Hashim, 20, on December 4.

In his complaint lodged with police, Ghulam Murtaza, the brother of the deceased, alleged that Mr. Khan had killed his brother.

The complainant said while he was in Dubai, Mohammad Hashim told him on phone that he knew about some secrets of his employer and feared that he might be killed.

Mr. Hashim was brought dead to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) by Mr. Khan on December 4. Later, Shalimar police reached the hospital and seized the body.

Naik Khan told police that the deceased worked in his house in G-10/4 as servant for four years and on December 4 when he entered his room, he found him hanging with a piece of rope tied to the ceiling of the room.

There was no knot on the piece of rope which the deceased supposedly used to commit suicide, police said, adding that Mr. Khan was yet to satisfy police questioning in this regard.

The medico-legal certificate has not ruled out the possibility of murder, as a fresh mark of rope present on both hands of the deceased shows that he was tied up before being killed.
