Poisonous gas claims two lives

ISLAMABAD, Dec 9: Two persons of a family died of suffocation while two others fell unconscious on Saturday after poisonous gas from burning coal filled the room they were sleeping in, police said.

The incident came to light when Zaman Abbas went to a room of his house at Dhok Hassanabad, village Gagri, limits of Sihala Police station to wake up his son Jaffer Raza, 20, his nephews Shafqat Abbas, 15, Yasrab Ghazanfer, 15, and father Ghulam Abbas, 70. Despite repeated attempts by him and his other family members to wake them up, they did not reply.

Later, all of them were shifted to hospital where Ghulam Abbas and Shafqat Abbas pronounced dead, and their bodies were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

While Yasrab Ghazangfer and Jaffer Raza kept in the Rawalpindi General Hospital for some hours and were discharged when their condition stabilised.
