LAHORE, Dec 03: Robbers in over two dozen successful strikes on Sunday took away cash and valuables worth millions, including drugs worth Rs45 million from the warehouse of a multinational pharmaceutical company in Sabzazar.

Police said a dozen gunmen stormed into the warehouse of Muller& Phipps on Multan Road near the Social Welfare Hospital and held general manager Habibur Rehman and his staff up at gunpoint.

After tying the entire staff with ropes, they loaded medicines on a truck and managed their escape without any hindrance.

Rehman said the loss was still being worked out. At present it was over Rs45million but it might be somewhere around Rs60 million, he apprehended.

In robberies elsewhere in the city, four armed men barged into Bashir’s house in Defence and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs1 million.

Two robbers burst into Sher Zulfikar’s house in Ghalib Market area and drove away with cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs300,000. A three-man gang forced its entry into Abdul Hameed’s house in Harbanspura and deprived inmates of cash and households worth Rs300,000.

Two robbers entered Salman’s house in 3-Block, Township, and caused the owner a loss of Rs300,000.

Another gang of two robbers made its way into Abdul Jabbar’s house in Factory area and took away cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs200,000 while as many robbers barged into Ashiq’s house in Chuhng and deprived him of cash and goods worth Rs100,000.

Three robbers intercepted Ahmed Faraz and his wife at the doorstop of their house at Rustam Park in Gulshan-i-Ravi when they returned from a marriage ceremony.

They snatched from them cash, jewellery and cell phones worth Rs300,000.

Two armed robbers stormed into Malik Shafiq’s shop at Shahalam in Mochi Gate and took away Rs14,000 in cash and a cell phone while a number of passers-by were deprived of cash and cell phones in Qila Gujjar Singh, Green Town, Iqbal Town, Ghaziabad, Old Anarkali, Lytton Road, Shahdra and Gari Shahu.

DAWN WORKER: A Dawn worker was deprived of cash in Iqbal Town.

On Official duty, driver Asghar Ali had hardly parked his van in Pak Block, Iqbal Town, at 2pm when two motorcyclists carrying arms deprived him of Rs800.

SNATCH/STOLEN: At least seven cars were stolen/snatched from Johar Town, Ghalib Market, Mughalpura, South Cantonment, Islampura, Shahdra and Mozang while 10 motorcycles were snatched/stolen from Model Town, Shafeeqabad, Mochi Gate, Chung, Green Town, Mughalpura, Race Cource, Old Anarkali, North Cantonment and Mustafaabad.
