New scholarship announced
ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: The management of Holborn College London has decided to award scholarships to Pakistani students in the name of Dr Maleeha Lodhi, the country’s high commissioner to London.
Prof Cedric Bell, chief executive officer of the college, announced this here on Wednesday.
The scholarship — Dr Maleeha Lodhi Holborn College Sponsorship — would be available for one student at the undergraduate degree courses level for the next three years, during each intake. There are two intakes per year: one in March and the other in September.
The scholarship would be advertised by the college and interested students could apply for admission until December 15.
Every year, scores of Pakistani students join Holborn College, thus, “we decided to offer a scholarship to the Pakistani students in the name of their high commissioner to the UK,” Prof Bell said.
Dr Lodhi was guest of honour in the 2003 college annual function, he said, she takes keen interest in the well-being of Pakistani students studying at the college.
Prof Bell said: “When we approached her to offer a scholarship in her name to the Pakistani students, she happily accepted it.”
Under the scholarship, selected students would be offered 50 per cent reduction in their tuition fees, Prof Bell added.—Staff Reporter
