ANKARA, Nov 28: Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday called for dialogue to end the conflict in the Middle East, saying it “weighs heavily on the whole of international life.”
Speaking to the diplomatic corps here on the first day of his visit to Turkey, the pope again called for “authentic dialogue ... to arrive at lasting and acceptable political solutions.”
He said: “I am thinking most especially of the disturbing conflict in the Middle East, which shows no sign of abating and weighs heavily on the whole of international life.
“I am thinking of the risk of peripheral conflicts multiplying and terrorist actions spreading,” he said.—Agencies
