KARACHI, Nov 19: Sindh Minister for Local Government and Katchi Abadis Muhammad Hussain Khan has directed the town municipal administrations and union councils to take all possible measures for enhancing their resources to provide better services to the people.

Speaking at an Eid-Millan party organized by the TMA of Shah Faisal on Sunday, he said the purpose of devolution and present local bodies' setup was to provide basic amenities to the public.

Iqbal Muhammad Ali, MNA; MPAs Abbas Jafri and Nishat Zia, Town Nazim of Korangi Arif Khan, Town Nazim of Shah Faisal Muhammad Imran and others were present.

The minister said there was a need for utilizing development funds in a transparent and judicious manner. He directed officers of TMAs and UCs to cooperate with nazims and councillors and avoid creating obstacles in undertaking uplift schemes.

The town nazim informed the minister about the various development projects while TMO of Shah Faisal Town Syed Barkat Rizvi told him about problems of the staff and requested for their solution.

Talking to newsmen, the minister said encroachments from Karachi would be removed. Action against encroachments in New Karachi, Surjani, Korangi and other areas showed the commitment of the government, he added.—PPI
