Guard Filters win polo contest

LAHORE, Nov 14: Six-goal Taimur Ali Malik enabled Guard Filters to earn a thrilling 7-6 win against Punjab Rangers in the TCL polo cup on Tuesday.

Besides Taimur, Munawar Baig also scored one goal to complete the tally.

For the losers, five goals by Agha Murtaza Ali Khan made it a hard fought match. Mohammad Akhtar scored one.

Two goals each by Omar Niazi and Hashim Kamal Agha also helped Al Khan earn a thrilling 5 1/2-5 win against Diamond Paints. Mohtashim chipped in with a goal for the winners, who had half-goal handicap.

For the losers, Mir Shoaib Ahmad (2) and Hassan Ali Farrukh (2) were the scorers while Kamil Murtaza added one.

Five goals by Abdul Haseeb Mehta propelled Harvesters to 7 1/2-4 win over Master Paints. Raja Amer Khan and Mohammad Waheed struck one each for the winners, who had half-goal handicap.

For the losers, Aamir Cheema scored two while Sufi Mohammad Aamir and Malik Azam Hayat Noon one each.
