LAHORE, Nov 14: The LHC on Tuesday ordered attachment of a property of Advocate Malik Ilyas who allegedly misappropriated Rs1.6 million when appointed a court auctioneer for a property.

Malik Ilyas, along with Advocate Abdul Latif, was appointed by a court to auction a property. He allegedly withdrew Rs1.62 million from the joint bank account in the name of the property. Later, he left the profession and fled from the country.

When the LHC took up the case, it directed the FIA to locate them and Mr Latif informed the court that Ilyas was responsible for the misappropriation. The FIA traced him with the help of his son, Tariq Ilyas, also a lawyer. He was produced in the LHC handcuffed and was allowed to be freed when he promised to pay the amount in three installments by the end of November.

He failed to pay the first installment and the court ordered his arrest again. He was produced in the LHC which ordered attachment of his property and placing his name on the exit control list. Later, his son submitted that he would deposit the amount. —Correspondent
