KABUL, Nov 11: The Italian foreign minister pushed on Saturday his proposal for a new international conference on Afghanistan, saying increasing insecurity was of great concern and needed to be urgently addressed.
Massimo D'Alema broached the idea in meetings with President Hamid Karzai and Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, telling reporters afterwards the conference would focus on forging a common international strategy for peace.
He also raised the plan in Rome on Thursday before flying out to Afghanistan.—AFP
