KARACHI: Anti-encroachment drive in Shah Faisal Town


KARACHI, Nov 3: A grand operation would be started soon against encroachments in Shah Faisal Town and roads and sidewalks would be made free of illegal occupations to facilitate people in transportation.

This was stated by Nazim Shah Faisal town Mohammad Imran, who accompanied by Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan MNA and members of provincial assembly Abbas Jafery and Nishat Mohammad Zia, during their visit to UCs 5 and 7 to review ongoing works and public problems.

The Nazim said in first phase roads would be widened by removing encroachments from railway gate near Malir-15 and Shahrea Faisal opposite Quaid-i-Azam International Airport from Wireless Gate to Star Gate Service Road and afterwards encroachments would be removed phase-wise within a week from every area of the town.

Directing the anti-encroachment cell to devise comprehensive strategy to eliminate encroachments from driveways and footpaths, he asked to complete arrangements regarding drive.

Following the directives of Town Nazim Gulshan-i-Iqbal Muhammad Wasay Jalil, anti-encroachment team on Friday removed over 50 encroachments from major roads of the town.

DTO Land Mehmood Siddiqi supervised the operation.

The encroachments from NIPA Chowrangi to Safari Park and from NIPA to Sindbad besides Sahba Akhtar Road including LPG cylinders and carts were also removed.

Dengue lab: In order to undertake joint efforts to eliminate dengue virus, mosquitoes and ensure provision of medical facilities to affected people, Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Sheikh on Friday held a meeting with the government as well as private doctors to chalk out an effective strategy.

Speaking on the occasion, the Town Nazim directed them to set up a lab at the town office to be run under the Malir Town Administration.

He directed for forming a panel of doctors for running the lab. All necessary medicines and diagnostic tests of dengue haemorrhagic fever and others too be provided at the proposed lab free of coast or at minimum rates, he added.

He said the town administration would provide land for setting up of the lab, besides staff, workers and further cooperation.

Ansar instructed the participants to inform the town administration forthwith if any case of dengue fever was detected, so that early provision of blood, by the KKF blood bank, to the patient could be ensured.

If any doctor wanted to set up testing lab by installing his own machinery there, the required kits would be provided to him by the CDGK and KKF, he announced.

SEMINAR: In order to create awareness among masses about dengue fever, town administration Jamshed Town is organizing a seminar on Saturday Nov 4 at town office at 1:30 pm.

Jamshed Town Nazim Arif Ajakia will inaugurate the seminar while THO Dr Malika Alam and a large number of doctors, lady health workers and local residents will attend the seminar.—APP/PPI
