KOHAT, Nov 3: Local police arrested 205 criminals, including 36 proclaimed offenders, wanted in murder cases during a two-month special campaign against anti-social elements in the Kohat district.

District Police Officer Khalid Mahmood said this while briefing journalists in the police club on Friday. He said during the same period owners/drivers of 3,080 vehicles were challaned for traffic rules violations and a total of Rs225,900 fine was recovered from them.

The Rescue-15 received 8,819 complaints of different nature and took prompt action on these complaints. He said soon Rescue-15 centres would be established in Jarma and Lachi towns which would help change image of police.

He said 40 Klashnikovs /Kalakovs, 24 rifles, 33 shotguns, one stengun, 161 pistols, one hand grenade and 10,572 cartridges of different bores were also seized from the arrested accused during the campaign.

He said old offices and halls in the police lines were being reconstructed to provide better boarding and lodging facilitates to police. Besides, computerised registration of executive staff had been completed and registration clerical staff would soon be started, he added.
