KARACHI, Nov 3: Chairman of Sindh National Front and Sindh Qaumi Ittehad, Sardar Mumtaz Ali Khan Bhutto, said on Friday that provinces would not accept less than complete autonomy with ownership rights over their all the resources.

In a statement, Bhutto said the conditions in Pakistan have aggravated to the extent that any effort to appease the provinces with hollow promises of autonomy would harm the foundations of the country.

He viewed that the concurrent list has become an outdated tool having nothing but certain useless pebbles in it that could not contain the demands of federating units.

“Except defence, foreign affairs, currency and resolving the inter-provincial issues, the centre does not need to retain any other authority,” he added.

“The provinces should be empowered to contribute, what they agree, to the centre from their exchequer,” Bhutto suggested.

The SNF leader said his party has drafted a new constitution for Pakistan which had been widely hailed the world over, which should be adopted.—PPI
