DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 28: After the transfer of the district coordination officer, the district nazim has allegedly put the DCO office employees in a great deal of difficulty by establishing his office over there and making them move to his office building.

The nazim has preferred to sit in the spacious building after abandoning the original nazim’s office which, he says, has become incommodious to the entire staff.

District Nazim Maqsood Ahmad Khan Leghari has shifted his office with a six-member staff to the spacious building of the DCO office which he found vacant after Khusro Pervez Malik’s transfer. He also asked the whole staff of the DCO office to move to his previous office without realising that the place cannot accommodate 85 officials of more than four branches.

It is pertinent to mention that after the transfer of Mr Malik, EDO Mrs Irum Bokhari was delegated the additional charge of DCO. She is performing the additional duty in her own office and the DCO office staff is facing inconvenience in adjusting the record, including that of the revenue department.

When contacted, acting DCO Mrs Irum Bokhari told Dawn that she had the additional charge of DCO and, therefore, she was not in a position to comment.

A DCO office employee told Dawn on the request of anonymity that their actual office was good enough for the six-member staff of the district nazim and there was no need to shift the record and the employees already working there.

He said they had been given only one room in the nazim’s office, though they actually required at least 10 rooms to work properly. He expressed apprehension that the vital record of the office could easily be misplaced or stolen because the lockers for records had been kept in the corridors of the nazim’s office.

This correspondent made repeated attempts to contact the district nazim, but he was not available for comments.
