Qazi rejects govt change through coup

NOWSHEHRA, Oct 28: MMA president and Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad has rejected change of the government through yet another military coup.

Addressing meetings of the party workers, he said ‘I want to make it clear that change through coup will not be good for the people’.

Defending opposition’s protest drive, he said that a mass movement against the government alone could yield good results.

‘If people are ready to offer sacrifices for the ‘Islamic revolution’ only then a positive change can come. Coup cannot benefit people, he pointed out.

Mr Ahmad regretted that there was no rule of law in the country and the assemblies had just become rubber stamps.

He stated that only sincere and religious parties who believe in democracy and constitution could provide better leadership for the county.

About formation of the grand alliance, he said that in future the MMA would form alliance only with those parties who believe in Islam’s supremacy, democracy, and independence of judiciary and federalism.—PPI
