PM to visit US next month

ISLAMABAD, Oct 13: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will make a brief visit to the United States next month for an important UN-related event in New York, it is learnt.

The visit may take place in the first half of November.

According to informed sources Mr Aziz will not be visiting Washington during the three-day visit.

In New York the prime minister will chair a meeting of the UN secretary-general’s high-level panel on UN system-wide coherence in areas of development, humanitarian assistance and environment. The meeting is to make a formal presentation of its recommendations.

The 15-member UN panel formed last year is co-chaired by prime ministers of Pakistan, Norway and Mozambique.—Q.A.
