KARACHI, Sept 25: The Sindh High Court on Monday granted interim pre-arrest bail to the Keamari Town nazim and four others in a harassment case.
Hamayoon Khan and others were booked by the Jackson police on the complaint of Rizwan, who alleged that the respondents had beaten and threatened him.
The SHC's single bench comprising Justice Mushir Alam after preliminary hearing of the application granted interim bail to the applicants in the sum of Rs50,000 each and issued notice to state for Oct 9.
PPBSA CASE: The High Court of Sindh Monday directed the secretary for commerce to take up the matter about the cancellation of the licence of the Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association.
A constitution petition was filed by the PPBSA against the Federation of Pakistan against cancellation of its licence.
The petition came up for hearing before the division bench comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Maqbool Baqar.
The petitioner sought directives of the SHC against the cancellation of PPBSA licence by the relevant authority without any show-cause notice.
It was also submitted that the cancellation of the licence without mentioning any valid reason or cause was illegal.
Deputy Attorney General of Sindh Akhter Ali Mehmood appeared for the government while Advocate Khalid Javed represented the PPBSA.—PPI/APP
