HYDERABAD, Sept 3: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture has rejected the proposed construction of Akhori dam by the federal government. At its meeting held here on Sunday, leaders said that the dam would be more harmful for Sindh than the Kalabagh dam.
Syed Qamaruzzaman Shah presided over the meeting.
The meeting warned that if any attempt was made to construct Akhori dam, it would be strongly opposed.
It called upon the Sindh government to take notice of the dangerous dam and perform its due role in saving the province from destruction.
The meeting supported the report of water committee headed by A.N.G. Abbasi.
It claimed that the Abbasi report had rejected the construction of more dams unless decommissioning of Taunsa-Panjnad and Chashma-Jehlum link canals in Punjab.
Leaders said that if the Akhori dam was constructed, the entire Sindh would be converted into a barren land.
