ISLAMABAD, Aug 28: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Monday condemned the death of Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawab Akbar Bugti during a military operation in Balochistan and termed it ‘extra-judicial killing’.
Talking to at the Parliament House cafeteria, MQM MNA Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi said his party had been opposing the use of state force in Balochistan from day one and it wanted resolution of the crisis through dialogue.
He said that if Mr Bugti was wanted in any case he should have been arrested and presented in a court. He said the MQM believed that dialogue was the only solution to political problems.
Mr Rizvi claimed that it was because of the MQM’s pressure that the government was forced to constitute a parliamentary committee on Balochistan but its recommendations could not be implemented.
He said there was consensus among all the political parties on 29 points of the committee.
Mr Rizvi said that the main issue was lack of provincial autonomy.
