Bugti jirga extends support to govt

QUETTA, Aug 27: Members of the caretaker council of the Bugti jirga have announced an all-out support to the government for its action against Nawab Akbar Bugti and his followers.

Chiefs of Kalpar, Masoori, Fabrarzani and Reejah sub-clans of Bugti Tribe, Jalal Khan, Ali Muhammad, Nabi Baksh and Mir Hamadan Khan respectively, and Maiwah Khan Lothani, Sardar Subedar Khan Charzai and Muhammad Baksh Mandarani said in a hurriedly called press conference here on Sunday that people of Dera Bugti and Sui had heaved a sigh of relief after the recent actions of the government.

They claimed that life in the area was going on as usual and people of Dera Bugti were celebrating the end of ‘an era of tyranny’.

They accused late Nawab Akbar Bugti for never letting the government develop the area and joining hands with anti-state elements.

They express confidence that his death would usher in a new era of peace and stability in the region.

They claimed that some opportunist political elements were releasing false statements in the media while, factually, “peace is reigning the region”. —Online
