KARACHI, Aug 3: Volunteers of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum have saved 23 fishermen along with seven boats while six other boats and 42 fishermen were still missing in the Arabian sea.

At least 65 fishermen had been missing since Friday when they had left Jati town in Thatta district for fishing in 13 small boats.

In the meantime, flash floods inundated a number of coastal villages including Mohammad Urs, Umer Themor, Malir Themor, Pir Bux Themor, Qadir Dino, Usman Mirbahar, Abdullah Mallah, Rabu Themor and Ishaque Themor.

The PFF press release criticised the local governments and said that Thatta and Badin administrations had not responded to their appeal.

It said that flash floods, high tides and overflowing of the Left Bank Outfall Drain has inundated a vast area in Badin.—PPI
