Work on nine colleges begins

SIALKOT, Aug 3: Construction work on five girls and four boys degree colleges in far-off areas has been started.

District coordination officer Rizwanullah Baig told the press here on Thursday that the building of government girls degree college, Chawinda was being constructed with a total cost of Rs35.575 million while Rs21.463 million would be spent on the construction of a block for MA classes, hostel for 60 students and a lab at Daska women college. He said work on the building of Chaudhry Zahur Elahi degree college for girls was briskly under way at Kapoorwali at a cost of Rs33.312 million while a hostel building was also being built at Pasrur women college with an amount of Rs15.578 million.

The DCO said the district government was spending Rs14.829 million on early construction of a post-graduate block of additional classrooms at Sialkot Murray college. He said a sum of Rs33.505 million would be utilised for the establishment of government boys degree college, Qila Kalarwala-Pasrur.

He said Rs31.183 million would be spent on the upgradation of Sambrial intermediate college to degree level.

The building of Chawinda degree college for boys was being constructed at a cost of Rs25.06 million while Rs33.505 million would be utilised for setting up of Phookaliyaan degree college for girls.

SNAKE BITE: Eight people died of snake-bite in rain and flood-hit Bajwat villages along the working boundary during the last few days.

EDO (health) told newsmen 14 cases of stray dogs’ biting had also been reported from these areas.

He said the health department had established five camps at far-off bordering areas namely Chaprar, Head Marala, Saidpur, Tharo Mandi and Pasrur.
