HYDERABAD, Aug 3: About 200 teachers and political activists under the banner of Sindh Employees Alliance took out a procession from the civil hospital to the district nazim’s office in Tando Allahyar on Thursday.
They were protesting against the dismissal of central chairman of the alliance, Rafique Jarwar, who is also president of the Primary Teachers Association, and Ghani Kumbhar, president of the Government Secondary Teachers Association. The protesters raised slogans against the Sindh education minister.
MPA Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi and some elected representatives of local bodies also participated in the rally.
Local SEA leaders Juman Jarwar and Aslam Jarwar said that protest would not be called off till the reinstatement of dismissed teachers, withdrawal of ban on teachers’ associations and acceptance of other demands.
Two teachers Saheb Dino Mirjat and Noor Mohammad Daudpoto said that if above demands were not accepted, they would commit self-immolation outside the office of the district nazim on August 17.
BANGLE WORKERS: The general secretary of the Hyderabad Glass Bangle Mazdoor Ittehad Union, Sirajuddin Gaddi, has appealed to the Sindh chief minister to take notice of alleged malpractices in the Sindh Social Security Institute to ensure that bangle workers were provided social security cover.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that hundreds of bangle workers had not been provided social security cover as a result they were denied medical facilities which was their legal right.
He said that social security officers were mixed up with factory owners as a result cards were not issued to factory workers for medical treatment.
Mr Gaddi appealed to the Sindh chief minister to take notice of malpractices in the Social Security Institute and ensure that the bangle industry workers were provided medical facilities which was their legal right.
