Four killed in held Kashmir


SRINAGAR, July 23: Four people were killed in three separate incidents in held Kashmir on Sunday, an Indian army spokesman said.

An Indian soldier was killed when militants opened fire on an army patrol in the Gurez sector, about 100 kilometres off held Srinagar, army spokesman V.K. Batra said.

In another clash, soldiers killed two militants hiding in a house in the village of Landoora in Shopian, he said.

Meanwhile, a civilian was killed and two others injured in an explosion outside a scrap dealer shop at Lawoosa, Batra said.—AFP
