Security beefed up after blast in Karachi


ISLAMABAD, July 14: Security was beefed up countrywide and in the federal capital after a suicide bombing in Karachi on Friday that killed Allama Hassan Turabi. Security had been increased around parliament house, prime minister’s secretariat, important buildings and on highways.

The ministry of interior had issued directives to IGPs and law-enforcement agencies to keep a vigil on important places and religious figures.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Police had beefed up security arrangements and security cordons have been placed. Suspect vehicles are being searched on important roads.

In Karachi security was put on high alert at all the mosques, imambargahs and in other important places, while police and rangers were patrolling the roads.—Online
