HYDERABAD: Minor girl killed, five injured in land dispute

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, June 28: In the ongoing land dispute between the Legharis and the Khaskhelis, a minor girl, Siani, was killed and five others, including three women, were injured in the Sadiq Khaskheli village, Tando Allahyar district, on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the Legharis, who had come in vehicles, had opened fire on the Khaskhelis resulting in the death of Siani and injuries to Ms Haleema, Ms Gulzar, Ms Rani, Abdul Hameed and Darya Khan.

The body of Siani and the injured people were later removed to the taluka hospital.

Following the incident, the Khaskheli community, including women, placed the dead body on Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road and staged a protest demonstration. The traffic remained suspended for four hours.

The SP investigation, Ghulam Subhani Khonharo and TPO Dost Mohammad Mangrio rushed to the spot and tried to persuade the protesters to clear the road but they refused unless an FIR was registered against the Legharis and the accused were arrested.

Adviser to the provincial government, Syed Pir Zaman Shah Jilani also reached the spot and directed the police to register FIR and arrest the accused.

On his assurance that justice will be given, the Khaskheli community called off the protest and the vehicular traffic was restored. The Khaskheli community has also alleged that four members of their community, Dilawar, Ghazi, Khuda Dino and Ali Mohammad Khaskheli have been kidnapped by the Legharis.

After post-mortem examination, the body of Ms Siani was handed over to her family and an FIR has been registered at Tando Allahyar police station on the complaint of Dhani Bux Khaskheli, the uncle of the deceased.

Nawab Mir Rehan Khan, Liaquat Ali Leghari, Azkar Ali Leghari, Mansoor Ali Leghari and others have been nominated as accused in the FIR.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here from Tando Allahyar said that following the telecast of the road blockade by the Khaskheli community, the Nawabs of Tajpur and Khanpur have placed a ban on cable network.

Latest reports said that four members of the Khaskheli community, who were allegedly kidnapped by the Legharis, have been set free and they have reached home.
