MADRID, June 23: The IMF will take into account the under-representation of African countries on its executive board as part of its reform effort, IMF Managing Director Rodrigo Rato said here on Friday.
“Governance reforms must certainly take into account the need for adequate voice and representation of African countries,” he said after meeting several African representatives to prepare for the annual session of the IMF and World Bank in Singapore in September.
African and Asian nations have for years been pressing for a greater say in the decision-making apparatus of the Washington-based IMF.—AFP
