HYDERABAD, June 22: Sindh Education Secretary Ghulam Ali Pasha has said that an allowance of Rs1,500 and Rs1,200 will be given to teachers who are working in rural areas of the province.

He said that a separate secretariat would also be set up to enhance capacity building of teachers to improve the standard of education in the province.

He was speaking at a book-distribution ceremony at the Government Elementary College of Education for Men here on Thursday.

The programme was organised by the Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Wing in collaboration with the Education Sector Reform Assistance.

He said that in order to ensure quality education, the government was improving infrastructure for teachers’ training and teachers who had completed their training from the USA would be deputed as trainers at the training centres.

He said that the best training models prepared by the teachers would be helpful not only for better training but would also be a source for qualitative education.

He said the plan would go a long way in raising the standard of government schools.

He said that the poor people would be enabled to have quality education for their children at their doorstep.

He called upon management of elementary colleges of education to submit plan of education development so that quality education could be imparted at the gross roots level.

He said that the government was also considering to change promotion and recruitment rules in the education department to raise the quality of education.

He said that the Elementary College Hyderabad would be converted into a professional development centre.

He said that a directorate of human resource development had been established where a complete database of teachers would be computerised.

He said that the government was giving a top priority to the education sector while donor agencies were also sharing their efforts to increase the literacy rate.

The secretary distributed books among principals of government elementary colleges of education.

The director of the Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Wing, Sindh, Abdul Latif Siddiqui, highlighted the main objective of the book-distribution ceremony.

Fawad Shams highlighted the performance and main objects of the ESRA.

Teachers trained from the USA shared their experience of training and gave suggestions for quality education.
