KARACHI: Boards’ heads meet tomorrow

KARACHI, June 3: The Committee of Chairmen of Sindh’s educational boards will meet in Karachi on June 5 to determine the modus operandi for the 9th class annual examinations likely to commence from June 20.

This was stated by the chief of the committee, Anwar Ahmed Zai, on Saturday. All six boards of Sindh will implement the same schedule of examinations.

It is estimated that the total number of 9th class candidates in the province are around 400,000.

Anwar Zia said the meeting would also review the equivalence marks of 'A' and 'O' levels vis-à-vis the matriculation system.

He stated that at present five per cent marks of 'O' level students were deducted, which was 10 per cent for countries where there was no external equivalence.

He said the meeting’s participants would look into the rationale of this and would review whether there was any need for a change in such an arrangement.

“Such a system should be student-friendly,” he said, adding that youngsters should not suffer in any way.—APP
