Tendulkar hopeful of early return
CHENNAI (India), May 19: India batsman Sachin Tendulkar is satisfied at the speed of his recovery from a shoulder surgery and is hopeful of an early return to international cricket.
The premier batsman, who has resumed mild net sessions after undergoing surgery in late March, has spent the last five days testing his injured shoulder at the MRF Pace Foundation in the southern city.
He will take a fitness test in Mumbai on Tuesday to determine his availability for the four-Test series in the West Indies in June.
The national selection committee picks the Test team the following day.
“I'm progressing well and I'm feeling a lot better now,” the 33-year-old batsman told journalists on Friday.
India's most-capped Test player faced the foundation's trainees, who bowled at full pace, for over 30 minutes and did not appear in any discomfort.
Former Indian team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus and the foundation's fitness trainer Ramji Srinivasan assisted Tendulkar in his fitness schedule in Chennai.
“There is a noticeable improvement in my shoulder,” the batsman said.—Reuters
