Ashraf, Raza shine

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, May 17: Fine bowling by Ans Ashraf Ali and a half-century by Ali Raza propelled Al-Halal Club to a seven-wicket win against Punjab Club in the rain-hit 9th Gold Cup cricket at the Aligarh Ground on Wednesday.

Ans took three wickets for 20 runs to restrict Punjab Club to 150-9 in the allotted 25 overs. The quota of over was to be reduced due to the overnight rain. Ali Raza struck 53 as Al-Halal Club achieved the target for the loss of three wickets with one over to spare.

Ans was declared as Man-of-the-Match.

Summarised scores:

PUNJAB 150-9, 25 overs (Navid 45; Ans Ashraf Ali 3-20, Shafqat 2-17, Mohsin 2-29).

AL-HALAL 151-3, 24 overs (Ali Raza 53, Balal 39, Faraz 33; Faisal 2-13).
