Asif declared best gymnast

PESHAWAR, May 10: Defending champion Pakistan Army retained the 7th National junior gymnastic title after securing 106 points at Army School of Physical Training and Fitness Centre, Abbottabad, on Wednesday.

Army virtually faced no competition as they dominated the proceedings.

Punjab grabbed second position while Sindh finished third.

Besides the junior championship, 42nd seniors’ championship was also being played.

Asif Ali of Pakistan Army was declared best gymnast with 41 points followed by Azhar Hussain of Army and Zeshan Haider of Punjab with 32 points each.

Army snatched gold medals in floor, rings, parallel bar and high bar. Punjab won gold in pommel horse while NWFP grabbed gold medal in vault.

Final of the National Senior Gymnastic Championship will be held on Friday.—APP
