KARACHI, April 25: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, has observed that the country is facing instability due to changes in the Constitution by Gen Musharraf in accordance to his liking.
“Balochistan has turned into a volcano because of policies of the rulers and bullets are sprayed on innocent people in North Waziristan. This is high time to stand up against the oppressive government and struggle against it until its removal,” he said.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad, who is also the chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, was speaking at late Syed Akmal Shirazi Conference, which was organised in Government Commerce College on Tuesday by the Islami Jamiat Talba in memory of its activist who was killed last week by terrorists. Other speakers at the moot were IJT Karachi Nazim Syed Abdul Rashid and Syed Samiullah, who is the father of late Akmal Shirazi.
The MMA chief said that Muslims were the target of terrorism in the world but in Karachi the US agents were indulging in terrorism under the government patronage in which IJT workers were obstacles in their way. “Blasts and killing incidents in sensitive areas of Karachi could not be possible without patronage of the government,” he remarked.
He said that terrorism could only be eliminated if all sections of society strive for the rule of Nizam-i-Mustafa.
Mr Ahmad said all efforts of the rulers to involve workers of religious parties and IJT in terrorism had failed. “Not only Karachi but the entire country has been the victim of terrorism and unrest. The government report indicates that 628 mobile phones are being snatched in the city daily. Last year, 50 police officers were killed because the provincial government was with the oppressors who enjoyed support from the centre,” he added.
The MMA chief said that Gen Musharraf at the behest of US wanted to impose the Aga Khan Education Board to make education secular. “We are striving to establish a society based on peace, tranquility, justice, equality and which is free from every kind of oppression and that is only possible with the enforcement of Islamic system,” he added.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad said there was need to identify real enemy of Muslims which was the US and its allies who had stopped funds to the democratically elected Hammas government in Palestine, conspired to divide Sunni, Shia and Kurds in Iraq and patronising anti-Pakistan elements in Afghanistan.
IJT Nazim Abdul Rashid said that if the government failed to arrest killers, who were named in the FIR, after a lapse of one month students of the country would stage a sit in outside the President House.
Syed Samiullah said that his son Akmal had laid his life in the way of his faith and his message to the youths was to follow in the footsteps of Akmal and spread the message of Qur’an. “As a father, I demand arrest of the killers of Farhan Asif and Syed Akmal and removal of the governor and the provincial government,” he said.
VISIT: The MMA chief last night visited the head office of Sunni Tehreek and offered condolences and Fateha to ST leaders Shahid Ghauri, Muhammad Salim Attari and others on deprivation of their leaders Abbas Qadri, Ikram Qadri and Iftikhar Bhatti in the Nishtar Park blast.
