KARACHI, April 25: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where four ships scheduled to load and offload containers, crude oil, chemicals and seeds were berthed during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday.
Three container ships and one oil tanker sailed, while five ships carrying clinker, coke, furnace oil and edible oil arrived at outer anchorage.
Nine ships — Merkur Beach, MS Nuria, Sealand Mariner, Taiking, Atlantic, Yanaseni, Chemstar Hero, Onozo and Toro — are currently at the port to load and offload containers, rice, canola seeds, chemicals, crude oil and iron ore.
A cargo volume of 88,687 tons comprising 69,971 tons of imports and 18,716 tons of exports was handled.
Four ships, Merkur Beach, MSC Nuria, Sealand Mariner and Chemstar Hero, sailed out during the last 24 hours.
Following ships are currently at outer anchorage.
Bulk Phoneix, Kudam, Samho Horn, Venus-7, Mykali and Angeliki-D are currently at outer anchorage.
Yanaseni and Tai King are expected to sail on Tuesday, while Nedllod Muscat, Nipha Naree and Venus-7 are expected to take berths on Tuesday. Oil tanker Keefan is due to arrive on Tuesday, while three more container ships, Indonesia Star, Sagar and Bavaria Express, are due to arrive at the port on Wednesday.
