THATTA, April 24: Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo has said that the proposed bifurcation of the Thatta district, allotment of state land in coastal areas at throwaway prices to multinational companies, demolition of Sindhi villages in cities is a conspiracy to convert Sindhis into a minority.

Talking to reporters at the press club here on Monday, Mr Palijo said that history would never forget rulers for their involvement in bartering away the interests of Sindh for their own vested interests.

He said that a coalition partner of the government wanted bifurcation of the Thatta district to create a new district to merge it with Karachi.

Mr Palijo said that the MQM had been eyeing the coastal belt area along the Thatta district much before acquiring power and now it was anxious to usurp huge mineral resources including lignite coal, costly stone, fish resources and fertile lands.

He blamed that the party wanted to expel locals from the coastal belt to materialize its dream of creating Jinnahpur.
