Two policemen killed

QUETTA, April 21: Bank robbers killed two police personnel here on Thursday but had to leave behind the Rs500,000 they had looted before escaping. Four armed men entered the United Bank branch on Quarry Road and took away Rs500,000 from the cashier at gunpoint.

Security guard Abdul Baqi offered resistance but he was fired at and injured by the robbers.

After the robbers left the bank, a police mobile started chasing them. The robbers fired on police on Sirki Road, killing mobile driver ASI Fateh Khan and constable Allah Nawaz of the Satellite Town police on the spot.

The robbers escaped leaving the looted amount. Later, funeral prayers of the victims were offered here and their bodies were sent to their villages. Provincial Home Minister Mohammad Shoaib Nausherwani and police officials and nazims attended the prayers.—Correspondent
