KARACHI: Suspected bomber’s sketch released

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 18: Police on Tuesday released sketches of the reconstructed head of the suspected suicide bomber involved in the Nishtar Park blast.

Following the blast on April 11, police found the head of the suspected suicide bomber. Initially its images were released to the media by police, but due to disfigured features the man’s identity could not be established.

Later, intelligence agencies took the head to Islamabad where it underwent reconstruction by plastic surgery.

On Tuesday, photographs of the head taken from three angles were released to the media by police.

A spokesman for the Sindh police said, “Anyone who provides any kind of information about the suspected suicide bomber will be rewarded handsomely; his (the informer’s) identity would be kept secret”.

The spokesman added that reward money which he failed to specify would be in addition to the already announced reward of Rs10 million by Sindh government.

Three phone numbers have also been notified on which any information about the suspected bomber could be provided. The phones numbers are 021-9215416, 021-9230884 and 021-9230894.

DEATH TOLL: Another victim of the Nishtar Park tragedy died at a hospital here on Monday bringing the death toll to 48.

According to the Civil Hospital sources, a victim of the Nishtar Park blast was struggling for his life but he breathed his last in the morning. He was identified as Moosa Qadri, sector in-charge of the Orangi Town unit of the Sunni Tehrik. His funeral prayers will be offered in Orangi Town.

Police believed that a suicide bomber blew himself in the Nishtar Park on April 11, killing at least 46 people and injuring 104 others. Two injured have died in the hospital subsequently, raising the death toll to 48.

Police are still groping in the dark as they failed to identify the suspected suicide bomber, whose head was found at the scene. Officials said that intelligence agencies had been investigating into the case and the police were directed to stay away with the investigation until the intelligence agencies completed their task.
