KARACHI, April 17: The hearing of a criminal revision application filed by state in Ehteshamuddin Haider murder case was put off till April 25 by an Anti-Terrorism Appellate (ATA) bench of High Court of Sindh on Monday due to paucity of time.
The state challenged an order of Administrative Judge for Anti- Terrorism Courts for Karachi division rejecting charge-sheet of the case and ordering trial before a sessions court.
The appellant/state maintains that Ehteshamuddin Haider, younger brother of former Sindh Governor Lt General (Rtd) Moinuddin Haider was killed to avenge actions taken by the federal government and its agencies against militant organizations. As the sole purpose behind the killing was to terrorize people, the case was tri-able by an ATC, the state maintains.
Ataullah alias Qasim and Mohammad Azam alleged that the activists of the banned outfit were arrested and charged with the murder of Ehteshamuddin Haider, a honorary trustee of Fatimid Foundation.—APP
